Legislative Updates
CWA Local 1039 has ably developed a legislative/political program that incorporates core public issues affecting working families. We mobilize our membership to preserve our benefits and pension; advance job security; bring dignity and respect for our members; stand for our contract; embrace values that support all workers, and have a commitment to the future of working people.
Local 1039 has sustained a political agenda that takes action on all forefronts, not only do we endorse and support labor friendly candidates, we participate in labor walks, do “Get Out the Vote” activities, as well as lobbying statewide and nationally. We shape legislation that has advanced labor on all fronts. With mounting economic challenges facing the nation, we are more committed then ever.
If we want to continue to enjoy the benefits of today, there is no question that political action is necessary. As responsible citizens the choices we make now will affect our tomorrow; therefore, every moment must be approached with the highest level or awareness. We at 1039 are able and ready to be political activists.
